My husbad gets a thick build up on his heels, tried a rotary scraper, hand scraper  and files. None will get if off good. Wonder if this will even work?

Yes. my heels are rough as sandpaper and cracked up all over. Until I got this thing. Don't forget to get the sanding discs that go on it. I grind mine about once every ten days then afterwards I apply some stuff called okeefs foot butter and now my feet are smooth as can be.
